Level 1 - One-Day Training -  'Introduction to AIM'  with Wendy Maxwell, Creator of the AIM

Cost: 150 Euros ($240 CDN) per teacher

Date: Friday, May 8, 2026
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Morning tea 8:30-9:00am)
Location: Repton Prep School, Milton Derbyshire DE65 6EJ

At AIM Language Learning, we’re on a mission to help increase student language acquisition through our unique classroom methodology. Our approach to language learning provides teaching resources, teacher development, and ongoing support for language teachers, from Kindergarten to grade 12.

Day 1
Develop oral language skills

In these sessions you will:
  • Understand the 15 research-based strategies of the Accelerative Integrated Methodology (AIM)
  • Receive hands-on practice with key AIM strategies and techniques, such as the Gesture Approach and Questioning Techniques
  • Discover how AIM uses rhythm, rhyme, and music to accelerate engagement and language development
  • Learn one AIM story as a context for extended language manipulation and the
  • Development of written language
Day 2

Help students develop written proficiency

  • the full cost of tuition will be covered for a 2-day workshop plus the (Live Online) Specialty Sessions on July 18th, 2025 or (Live Online) Hands-On Gesture Practice starting October 7th, 2025. You must apply for and attend all three days/workshops to qualify, which means you must register before July 18th if you're adding the Specialty Sessions, or October 7th if you're adding the Hands-On Gesture Practice.
  • there is a travel allowance if you are travelling over 100 kms each way (up to $800) 
  • there is a childcare subsidy of up to $300 
  • bursaries will be allocated on a first come, first served basis

The Gesture Approach

The AIM is a methodology that supports students by providing strategies and techniques that ensure student language acquisition and a high level of engagement. The Gesture Approach allows students to visualize, hear, say and 'feel' the language simultaneously, and this results in rapid proficiency development.

A Literacy- and Arts-Based Approach

Through the use of story and drama, songs, raps, and dances, students are moving to the language as they create meaning. Scaffolding and cooperative learning strategies help all students - the shy, weak, and strong - to find great support and success.

High-Frequency Vocabulary

One of the most essential aspects of AIM that ensures student success is the high-frequency vocabulary (Pared-Down Language) that threads throughout every aspect of this methodology. AIM is designed such that each word is repeated extensively, allowing students to develop a strong foundation for language proficiency.
